My 'green' meals

Nowadays in HK, the concept of 'Green Monday' is popular - every Monday people become vegetarian. In fact I did try to be a 'full-time' vegetarian (when I was trying to lose weight during my youth) but I found that I didn't have enough nutrition. Now I have learnt to have a balanced diet, eating meat, fish and vegetables; but I also try to eat less meat but more fish and vegetables & fruit. Actually sometimes I feel 'lighter' when I eat vegetables only after having too much meat. Also because of my urticaria, I should eat less meat. The Chinese medicine doctor that I was seeing in Hong Kong suggested me avoid eating chicken, lamb, shrimp, crab and bamboo shoots - there leave pork, beef and fish, but I don't like the smell of pork in the UK, and some people say beef are also very 'toxic', so now when I cook at home, I mostly cook fish and turkey (even though turkey is also a kind of chicken?!). I don't know how to cook a vegetarian meal - and sometimes I suspect I am allergic to tofu and diary products, so when I cook a vegetarian meal I have less choice (even though I do sometimes cook tofu!).

Vegetables in curry sauce with rice and boiled egg!

Rice with mixed beans, vegetables and egg!

Pasta in soup with vegetables and egg!
(Noticed that I always have eggs in my vegetarian meals?! :P)

Housewife is not an easy job

Since three years ago I left the organization that I served for 5 years, I have no longer worked 'full time'. Studying ACCA occupied part of my time and in the rest of my time I have been leading a life like that of housewives. That is, every day I'm busy cooking, buying food, doing shopping and doing housework! At the beginning when I still hadn't come to terms with the reality that I was unemployed, I thought being a housewife is boring and a waste of time; but gradually because of my physical and mental 'illness', I started paying attention to my body and studied how to live a life. I found that housewife life actually let me understand what life is about and I got to like this kind of life that allows me to gain control of my life.

Many people would think that what a housewife does is buy food, do cooking, do laundry and sweep the floor etc, but practically it is not easy at all! Every day after a healthy, tasty, nutritional breakfast, I will have to sweep the floor, sort out the bedding, prepare the ingredients for the dinner (e.g. soak the brown rice, mushroom or/and goji berries, etc., or put the frozen meat into the fridge from the freezer), or cook the Chinese style soup in advance. Before I do my food shopping, I have to plan the menus for the next few days/coming week (making sure the food is healthy and nutritional), where to go for food shopping, and also compare prices, paying attention to any vouchers or offers - usually I will go to different supermarkets for different ingredients. I usually spend an hour making dinner. On the weekends I will clean the shower room and the toilet, get my clothes washed by the washing machine, and sometimes need to tidy up my bedroom. In the past when I was living in other places, I also needed to sort out the bills for water, electricity and council tax. Sometimes I will look for soup recipes, information about health, Chinese medicine and nutrition on the internet.

To conclude, taking our life seriously is not just about work, but also about how to deal with everything (keep a balance). I also got inspired that we need to be focused when we do anything. That is what Buddhism says about 'living for the moment'!

Chicken Kiev

Housewife - free afternoon tea'

Being a housewife is not easy (I'll write another article to explain), also we can be very busy. Anyway there is a saying 'one should spare half a day off their busy life', a housewife should know how to enjoy life! Recently I've found that being a John Lewis member can be entitled to free hot drink and cake. Certainly I won't miss such a chance! Today was the last day of April when I could use my monthly (April) free cake voucher, so I went to John Lewis this afternoon when I had time.

Maybe other members were just like me, waiting till the end of the month to make use of the voucher, so there seemed to be a lot of people there this afternoon? I love doing my reading and having a cup of tea at a coffee shop. Today was not an exception. I brought with me a Buddhism book to enjoy the afternoon tea!

Hope/dream inspired by Ikea

I like Ikea. Going there every month seems to have become my habit. Every time when I see those showrooms, furniture and decorations, and kitchen stuff, I feel very excited, dreaming that one day they will become part of ‘my house’! I appreciate that they make use of limited space for unlimited ideas, which is totally my ideal! I think I like interior design – I like using limited resources and limited space to make my life better. We don’t need a big house and expensive resources to create a comfortable living space. The fact that Ikea keeps being creative is another reason why I like it!?

Going to Ikea without having a meal there is incomplete. Its meatballs with mash are my all-time favourite – I had heard many people say about it before I tried them myself. Its new sausage with mash is nice too. Having the privilege of free hot drink with Family Card is another reason why I like to go there.
 My all-time favourite. Yummy!

I didn't like these new sausages at the beginning but now they taste ok to me!

 My dream workstation

This open kitchen and the living room seem nice

I will work hard to get this dining table and the chairs! :P

Caught cold

Oh no, this was the second time the cold virus had successfully attacked me!

Last Friday morning after I went out, I found something was not right - my nose started feeling itchy and being runny. I knew there must be something. So soon after I got home, I cleaned my nose immediately! But it was too late; the cold virus had successfully infected my nose very quickly. My nose kept being runny since the afternoon. >_< On Saturday I even started having coughs! In the evening I felt tired all over my body. But compared with last time, my illness of this time is not as serious; at least I can still sleep ok, without any problem with blocked nose or cough.

I really need to started doing some exercise to strengthen my body.

I also need to remind myself to wash hands before eating! It seems I have forgotten about it since I came to the UK. I remember when I was small, mum always said, 'Wash hands and be ready for the meal!' My house is shared by too many tenants; two of them are working in the hospital; also the kitchen is quite dirty! Recently Mrs. Housekeeper and Mr. Irish (also Mr. Philippines) have been having coughs, so the house may have some cold virus!

Small illness is a blessing?! But when it is frequent, it wouldn't be a good thing, right?

Home-made meals are always the best, especially when one gets sick and needs to eat plain!

But on Saturday I still went for yum cha with friends..

This very unhealthy fish and chips were eaten the day before I got sick..

My housemates

Hmm..

Ready meals!

'It's more difficult to live together than just to hang around' - in HK, I only had an experience of living with another girl in a room in the student hall; in the UK, their student halls are different, with each person having their own room while sharing the kitchen and bathrooms with others.

The place that I'm currently living in is a house shared by six people. Except for when I had to live with many people in the same hall, I got used to living with another person in a house here. So when I decided to move in here, I did feel a bit worried. Having been living here for five months, I guess I may have got used to that a bit?

Initially most of my housemates were men, but since last month there was one more female tenant. Even though I have been living here for five months, there has been many people moving in and out.

In the first two months, these were people who lived in the house:

1) Mrs. Housekeeper - she's the one who has been the longest living here, almost ten years! From water, electricity, gas, broadband, to kitchen cleaning stuff, it's her who sorts them out. To be honest, I'm sure she must have seen a lot of weird, trouble-making tenants. The landlord should feel lucky to have her help. Mrs. Housekeeper likes cooking. If there's any nice smell or any sound of the oven, it must be her who's making a big feast! She's the one who I talk most with. We like to talk about cooking and shopping. Hehe!

2) Mr. A - Mr. A who comes from Perth of Australia was very talkative. He could talk to people from day till night. He should do a talk show! :P But unfortunately no tenant would like to spend so much time chatting with him. At the beginning I talked with him a lot, but later I found that talking to him while doing my cooking would delay my cooking and affect the food quality! So later I started seeing him as a ghost! :P He never did any cooking; he liked to get food from the nearby Chinese takeaway and the Indian restaurant. Since his and my room received very weak signal of the broadband, he liked to stay in the living room for internet access. The living room was his second home indeed! He said he liked to be 'unrestrained' - he could give up a girlfriend whom he only got to know for less than a month (the fact was, he didn't want any trouble from her!). He'd never understand why women love cooking so much. In his mind, food was just used to fill our stomach. He'd rather spend time on other more important things than on cooking. I don't think he understands the fun and meaning of cooking!

3) Mr. B - He was the only tenant from Hong Kong. Actually he was born in the UK, which was why he and I communicate in English (but I did hear him speak Cantonese!) He was a nice guy. His temperament make me think he was a mix of 'Cheung Chi Lam' and a friend of mine! He was also a considerate boyfriend; he cooked for his girlfriend in our house before.

4) Mr. C - He who lived above my room rarely talked to me. Maybe because I always competed with him for the use of the kitchen? His quick footsteps impressed me most. If anyone walked down very quickly from upstairs, it must be him! Even when he cooked, he did things very quickly, such as cutting vegetables, stir-frying stuff and washing dishes. He did things so quickly that the bubbles of the washing up liquid remained in the sink! Because of the 'thin' flooring, I could hear clearly any sound made in his room, such as his talking to people on the phone, playing guitar, playing music and also his footsteps! The only thing that I appreciated about him was he'd spend time on cooking healthy food, such as salad and lemon water. He must be a person who pays attention to his health.

5) Mr. Philippines - In my mind, he is a quiet, pathetic and lonely single dad. Sometimes I do wonder, how does he spend his time when he's off work? Just like Mr. A, he seldom cooks. I only saw him using his own rice cooker occasionally.

Mr. A, B, and C moved out about the same time, there came three new tenants:

6) Mr. Irish - My first impression of him was he was a nice person. I can't imagine he's a smoker! I think I'm biased against most of the smokers. I can't stand the smoke that is so suffocating. Just like Mr. C, he does things very quickly and his footsteps are heavy. Also he often cooks at the same time as I do. His favourite are ready meals!

7) Mr. MacDonald - in the mind of Mrs. Housekeeper, he is a trouble-maker and a tenant who likes to complain. Before moving in, he already said our utility bills were too expensive. He and Mr. Philippines work in the hospital and so they get along quite well?! Like McDonald's, Mr. MacDonald cares about others - every time I see him, the first thing he says is, 'Are you alright?'! Mr. MacDonald does pay attention to cooking. He's not home all the time.

8) Miss Upstairs - Just like Mr. C, any sound made in her room can be heard by me. That's why she, who likes to play music (rock and roll!?) and likes to talk with friends on Skype, has made me understand the fact that noises can really drive one crazy (even though luckily I'm still not mad yet!), and make one lose temper. Her diet makes me think that she must be a young while lazy girl. Every week she buys a lot of yoghurt, cheese, ham, hamburger, pot noodles, bananas, etc. A classic case of hers is, every week at least once she'd put the cooking pot with pasta/rice and pan into the fridge for a few days.

Even though I have financial support from my VIP while looking for jobs, I can't spend too much; Just like many workers, I have to wait till the end of the month, the pay day, when I have my monthly pocket money! As the balance of the accounts with which I have ATM cards is going to its lowest point, I have to spend as less as I can this week! That means, I can't buy more than enough and anything that is not 'urgent' can be postponed buying, such as the soya sauce which is about to be finished, and the Mirin that I'd like to use for making rice with beef in Japanese style, a new diary, and eye cream that I thought was finished but still not finished. I almost can't help taking all of them home when I was at a Chinese supermarket! :P When I did food shopping, I tried to look for food that was on offer.

A few more days then it'll be ok :P

It's been one and half a months since I got to know that I am eligible for working here. It's not easy for a person who hasn't worked full time for three years to go back to working. At least in terms of thinking, I have become much more different than when it was three years ago. Nowadays all I want is to find a job to support my basic living; also perhaps because I'm getting older (those who are older than me may want to beat me up for saying this! haha! :P), I would pay more attention to the qualify of my life than earning a lot of money; I want to be able to do whatever I want to do, besides working.

Where should I start? I have had a look at some of the vacancies online (mainly community and university jobs) but I don't think I'm capable of doing those jobs. When I did find what I thought I could handle, I submitted application forms and if lucky, got a job interview, I still can't get the job. Including the job that I applied for last December, I have already done three job interviews. None of them was successful. I think, one of the reasons for my failure was I was too nervous during the interview, so much so that I couldn't express myself clearly. Like many people said, job seeking is a process that can defeat one's will and self-confidence. I think I'm lack of self confidence now..

Another difficulty that I'm facing when looking for jobs is, I don't know what kind of jobs I want to do. Accounting, which I have studied for the past two years? Hmm... Or my expertise - academic research? But my expertise is only limited to Cantonese and English; also the jobs that I have done after graduation have nothing to do with what I studied. Translation/interpreting? I don't know where to start...

I need to add oil to myself!!

Today I sent to the Learning Centre of a local community centre for internet. There are two frequent visitors to the learning centre (besides me): 'Sleeping lady' (who is asleep while she has the headphone on with a Hong Kong TV drama being shown at the computer) and 'Ms Pear' (because she looks like a Hong Kong actress whose name is called 'Chinese Pear'!). Today Ms Pear didn't come. There were only Sleeping Lady and Por Por Shen. Por Por Shen was waiting for the IT expert of the Learning Centre. Por Por Shen speaks Mandarin. Since I hadn't spoken Mandarin for a while, I grasped this opportunity to chat with her so as to practise my Mandarin. Por Por Shen lives alone as her son and daughter-in-law live and work elsewhere. That's why whenever she has any problem with her laptop, she doesn't know where to get help. I have a certain impression of Por Por Shen, as she is one of a few of Mandarin-speaking elderly who live in Manchester. Some time ago she was looking for someone to help her translate the report of her brain scan. Too bad I have very little knowledge of medical terms. Just like many elderly, Por Por Shen sometimes repeats what she says; she's very polite (as she used to be a teacher in China?). It was quite relaxing to speak to Por Por Shen, who always carries a smile. Today she said that, I used to be an energetic person but these few years she noticed I looked tired. :(

Last weekend I made steamed pork with pickled vegetables,
which I ate for lunch and dinner with rice and noodles respectively

Back to UK, back to bed early?!

After a few months in Hong Kong, finally I came back here!

I can't remember if I made any 2013 resolutions at the beginning of this year, but recently I'm trying to do at least one change, which I don't know if I can keep on, i.e. go to bed early! It sounds easy but for a night person like me who used to spend many nights doing her writing (and surfing the net!), it was easier said than done. I guess it's not simply about getting myself to bed as early as possible (according to the Chinese medicine, one should go to bed by 10:30 p.m.?!), but it's about changing my whole day schedule, e.g. wake up early (which is like a cycle - if you go to bed early, you should be able to wake up early), getting things done in daytime, having dinner and shower earlier, etc. Let's see if I can keep on. Trying to keep myself health is one of the main reasons for this change.

New photos to be coming..

Back 'home'

Oh I almost abandoned this blog!

It's been more than half a year since I last updated it and now I'm back 'home' - back to HK for some reasons. I have been trying to adapt to life in HK and its weather. Have been busy seeing doctors - western and Chinese ones for my health problems. I still have anxiety. One good thing about HK is it's warmer here! Though these days it's been raining and dull most of the days. Feel a bit lost...

My summer holiday so far...

Only two weeks to go before my summer 'holiday' ends..

I have been enjoying my summer holiday:
1) Spent a lot of time doing household work, such as cleaning different parts of the house and kitchen utensils. I can now understand why my mum used to tell us every day to brush and clean the floor, and how hard it is to be a housewife! I also spent a lot of time cooking food, especially Chinese soup! The ingredients mum had bought me were so useful. :)  I've got a lot to learn about Chinese soup and its therapeutic effects.

2) Doing shopping. With so much 'free' time, I sometimes would spend hours trying to find the most suitable kettle at a reasonable price! Often I'd go to different supermarkets, such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Aldi at different towns and compare their prices!

3) Explored the areas near my house. Since I moved to my new place, I bought monthly bus tickets each month, which enabled me to take bus unlimited times. So I took this chance to explore the areas near my place, which was sometimes like an adventure!

4) Reading. I've finished reading a few books that some of my friends lent to me. The reading process was quite enjoyable and I like to sit at a coffee shop, read a book an sip a cup of my favourite mocha/hot chocolate. Such a free time to meditate too..

5) VIP and friends' gatherings. I met up with a university classmate and a primary school classmate who travelled to UK from HK this summer. Nice chats. Also met up with some old colleagues to catch up. Not to mention the precious time with VIP. :)

Feel like doing some travel before the summer holiday ends! I want to broaden my mind/horizons...

Wish my holiday could be longer.. :P (so greedy!)

My new kettle!! It has a water filter and the water does taste better!:)

Treated myself with 3 dishes and one soup the other day :)

I like my halogen oven cooker! So easy to cook food!
The sausage, salmon and potatoes were baked in it.

Found Mediterranean bread from Asda the other day, which was nice!
Ate it with eggs..

Long time no 'write'!

It's been a long while (6 months!?) since I last wrote a post in the blog here.

A lot of things have happened as a rule of life:
1) Finished another semester of ACCA study; probably will do another semester to see what lies ahead. 2 module exams passed, 1 failed. Not bad. The one I failed was within my 'expectation' - I didn't work hard enough then. Some of the ACCA modules are not as boring as I first thought of, and they may be useful in daily life (not as a career!).

2) My summer 'holiday' started in mid June since the end of the June exams. 3 weeks to go before I get back to the student life. Time to think about what I have/need to do in the remaining three weeks, and take action.

3) Health is not as worrying as before - thanks to my female doctor and a psychological well being practitioner. I guess every one more or less goes through some kind of low points in their life and I just went through my low points over the past two years. Hopefully such a good experience will inspire/help me to better life and take good care of myself and others.

4) The visa problems deters me from doing any paid work/having access to job opportunities. A could-be job became hopeless (I was offered a job but due to visa issue, the offer had to be withdrawn!). Nothing I can do about it. The only thing I can do is to equip myself better, and enjoy my life. So I still took part in volunteering at Manchester Art Gallery this summer (but not as often as last year, as I tried to spend more time enjoying myself! (an excuse for being lazy!? :P))

5) I moved from my old flat to a new house, to follow my flatmate who's a nice girl. Life's a bit different as I live away from the city centre - have to spend much more time on transport, but at the same time it gives me a chance to 'explore' other areas of Greater Manchester.

Lunch today: very simple & healthy -
Mediterranean bread from Asda with egg + baby plum tomatoes + broccoli & cauliflower
Also a cup of almond milk! :)

Still keep the habit of going to a cafe from time to time (for reading)

Got a halogen oven cooker from Ebay. I love it!

How not to be tense?

Trying to relax myself today by keeping myself busy.

Highlights of the day:
1) Went to the GP clinic to do a test. =_=' The nurse was very nice and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all in the whole process! My tendency to worry about things tried to set in but I told myself not to think much about the test!
2) Did wii fit at home. We all know the benefits of the exercise but I'm always lazy to do any. Doing a bit of wii fit exercise (my favourite: jogging, hula hoops, yoga, muscle workouts, etc.) did help my blood circulation and the overall muscles and stretching!
3) Did a bit of tidy up of my room. I still don't know what to do with all those ACCA notes and the notes for my past studies. =_=' Too many of them.
4) I went to Costa Coffee for a cup of mocha while doing my reading and thinking there. :) Doing something like that once a week is good - I enjoy it.
5) Got some bread from Waitrose on my way home. Only 15p for 3 bread!! :)

I think I'm very tense without being aware of it!? The nurse said my muscles were tense when I had the test done. I guess that's why I experienced some pain with my body - being so tense (stress again!?).

Lunch: Sardines (from Aldi, tasted ok) & 'kai lan'

Dinner: Leftovers from last night - Japanese curry + bitter gourd with egg & 'kai lan'

My favourite drink: Mocha!!

Quite a good book borrowed from a friend

Stress is what it's all about

Really got 'inspired' these days, like today.

Maybe I've forgotten the aim of this blog - to share my daily life and thoughts, especially things that I do to try to 'live for the day'. Maybe too many worries? Too much unhappiness shown here? What has inspired me to have reflection like that is:

1) I have participated in a study about depression at the uni and today I went there to do some computer tasks. While some of the tasks were interesting, I was led to wonder about why I had felt so anxious, especially when the researcher tried to assess my mood today. I think I can be positive and strong but it's just that I've been overwhelmed by those negative thoughts and stress!

2) I saw the dermatologist this afternoon. As I had seen a specialist (in a different area of health problems) before, I knew that I shouldn't expect much. I did hope, before the appointment, that my skin problems could somehow be solved. I told him about all the symptoms I had got about my skin. After listening to all those, he had a brief look at my skin. Then he said my problems are not serious and there was nothing to worry about! I should forget those little problems! =_=' He said I might have STRESS RASH! He seemed to be suggesting that stress was the main, underlying cause of my skin problems! So nothing to be followed up. All I can do was to de-stress myself and maybe take antihistamine tablets if necessary. The dermatologist was the 3rd doctor here that asked me to relax. =_=' Have I been very stressed?? To be honest, I can't believe (and am not aware of) stress has taken its toll on me to such an extent. So all my health problems are down to one cause - STRESS!? I felt a bit ashamed of myself after seeing the dermatologist, thinking that I had worried too much and I had had a lot of different medical tests done! :(  Anyway, at least now I can be a bit relieved that my skin problems are not serious.

3) I went shopping alone after seeing the dermatologist (I got a 'free' bus ticket! :p). I was like doing some 'exploration' - took some new bus routes to go to a supermarket on my own (the supermarket was 30 minute bus trip from home). Doing shopping in the supermarket reminded me of my shopping trips with someone before. No reduced prices yet on pies, bread, roast chicken, vegetables etc when I went there. I have been on my own the whole day and I wonder if I'm back to my life in old days of being alone. An enjoyable shopping trip though!

As soon as I got back home, I started worrying about my meeting with the professor and HR dept for a job that I may be offered! I have to stop my thoughts on it. I guess in the rest of the week I have to try to keep myself busy so as to distract my attention to it!

Lunch at Subway - £3 deal with a cup of tea and meatball subway

Dinner: It consisted of 3 dishes! 'Kai Lan' + 苦瓜炒蛋 + Japanese curry chicken! :)

The vouchers given for participation in the study

My healthy snack corner! Fruit, snacks, honey, tea...

Shopping mission

On shopping mission alone today. Back to a 'housewife' life. :p

After sorting out requests for bank statements at the bank (nowadays all are done by computers! Even people at telephone banking said I had to request online for bank statements as my account is an online one! =_=') and posting items at the post office, I treated myself (quick) late lunch at Uncle Mcdonalds. I could feel my mouth was 'hot air' after eating! :p  My shopping mission started from Aldi, then Tesco, and finally chinatown. Though I did buy quite a lot (two big bags!), I still have outstanding items left on my shopping list. I do miss shopping at Morrisons and so hopefully after the dermatologist appointment on Tuesday afternoon, I can take the chance to go to Morrisons to continue my shopping mission (since I'll buy a day saver ticket on that anyway!)! :p

Initially I was supposed to yum cha with my ex-colleagues, attend the launch event for an exhibition organised by my ex-colleague, and meet up with a friend who I hadn't seen for a while. But it turned out I didn't do all of those - one of ex-colleagues was sick; it was too late when I went out. But I'd rather enjoy eating and shopping by myself, than having to rush to different events, though I did feel a bit lonely...

I guess I'm trying to make use of the 'extra' free time to be on my own and de-stress myself from the recent problems that need sorting out...

Lunch: McChicken sandwich + fries
cost me £1.99 becoz of the discount voucher! :)

Dinner: Steamed salmon with aubergines + broccoli
(finally I finished all the salmon steaks that I had bought a month ago!)

Stressful times

Busy day. And stressful.

I had to go to work at 10 a.m. today. Felt quite tired after I had stayed late last night. Only got 6 hours sleep, which showed its effect after lunch - I couldn't help falling asleep while in a meeting for a funding bid. =_=' Fortunately I had an early finish - around 3 p.m., so that I could go back home early to have a short afternoon nap!

My stomach seemed to get a bit unsettled/not too well these days. It ached occasionally and I have been having problems when going to toilet over the past week! :(  I wonder if my body can't take many beans, as I started feeling sick after I had some beans soup (which I made with mixed beans) & bread for lunch. I also felt itchy afterward and had to take an antihistamine tablet! :(

I'm struggling about whether to enrol on the ACCA course again. I went to my college to ask for a letter to prove I had studied there before, while trying to find out more about the new course. The lady who wrote me the letter was quite nice but her colleagues who were doing registration thing in another room were not so friendly! =_=' In fact I felt strange about going back there. That's a similar feeling I had to my ex-employer. I guess when you don't like something/someone, it's hard to go back there.

Finally I got a 'real' appointment with the dermatologist department! They gave me a call this afternoon to ask if I could go to their centre next Tuesday afternoon, and said they don't do that kind of online booking thing (with telephone assessment) any more and so I could ignore that! Hopefully the dermatologist dept can help sort out my little finger and skin problems...

I saw my female GP again! She was as nice and patient as always. I told her a few minor problems I had and she answered and explained one by one. She said the ache in my joints/back might come back from time to time until my vitamin D level would go back to normal in 6 - 8 months time! :S  My poor circulation problem in my fingers (Raynaud's Syndrome) couldn't be cured and I could only take tablets to make my fingers feel better. :S Anyway, I felt better (psychologically) after seeing her. That's what a doctor is supposed to do! And that's why I'd rather see her than the other (useless) gp! :p

It seems this time of the year is the most stressful to me...

Hi I'm back here!

It's been more than 2 weeks since I last wrote a post here. Lots of things happened. Busy. Tired. Lazy. Stressed.

1) Still doing the 10-hour per week part time job. My boss is nice to me. I'm lucky. Have been helping her with some interesting and challenging tasks. The pay is low but at least I don't have as much stress and unhappiness as in my last job.

2) Finally my ACCA results have been released. I was surprised that I passed all 3 exam subjects. I was just lucky. Not decided yet whether to enrol for the new academic year.

3) My fingers problem still hasn't been sorted out. I'm still waiting for the referral appointment with the dermatologist. I was glad that the weather's got warmer this week but tonight and tomorrow it'd be cold again. =_=' I've been lazy doing any exercise these days. I did try to eat more fruit each day and I love eating more fruit! :) My interest in cooking seems to be back again, after I started using my 450d to take photos. :)

4) Recently I've heard a lot about how people's relationship with their families and friends, e.g. my mum and sister-in-law got worse because of communication problems. Or, I should say, their conversations/communication just reflect their views on each other - if you don't like someone, you'd interpret whatever that person says as something negative/bad/criticism - your interpretation just reflects what you think of that person, rather than what that person means to say! While I found how complicated people are, that has roused my interest in linguistic research again! My expertise! I think at some point I should be back to the linguistics field to do some research again! :)

5) I've been trying to pick up my old hobbies again - photography, reading, cooking, research. Does that mean I'm back to my normal self after a period of low mood/anxiety/psychological struggle? :p

I love this salmon (in lemon & dill sauce) meal at Morrisons! :)

I have tried to grab bargains from supermarket these days.. :)

My interest in cooking is back!

The cake that I made with a little kid..

My new frying pan!
